Commercial Timetable Planner: Be the Mind Behind the Movement.
Are you passionate about rail operations and ready to transform timetables into seamless customer experiences? We’re looking for a Commercial Timetable Planner to join our agile and forward-thinking Commercial team. This is your opportunity to play a key role in making our services more accessible, efficient, and customer focused.
In this role, your work will directly shape how and when customers can book their journeys—especially during high-demand periods and special events. You’ll be at the heart of a collaborative effort that blends operational precision with commercial strategy.
What you’ll be doing:
As a Commercial Timetable Planner, you’ll act as the vital link between Operations and Commercial teams translating train schedules into sellable journeys. You will:
Input and manage timetable data in pricing and reservation systems across the Avanti West Coast network.
Ensure coach layouts and stock types align with the train plan, giving customers confidence in their bookings.
Open services for sale as early as possible to maximise booking horizons and revenue potential.
But that’s just the beginning. You’ll also unlock commercial opportunities for special events, working closely with Network Rail and internal teams to:
Develop detailed, fully resourced train plans for special events, engineering works, and more.
Ensure both base and special traffic plans deliver excellent customer outcomes and commercial value.
Keep stakeholders informed and aligned, identifying and mitigating risks alongside the Timetable Production Manager.
What We’re Looking For
Strong understanding of railway operations and geography.
Knowledge of Network Rail and TOC planning processes.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage priorities under tight deadlines.
