West Coast Partnership Development is a trusted partner of the Department for Transport (DfT) who are working towards creating and implementing the operations for High Speed 2 Ltd (HS2). Working to design, develop and mobilise the high-speed service operations which will deliver benefits including more capacity, quicker journey times and a step-change in customer experience.

 

We would like to present an exciting opportunity to join the WCPD PMO & Transitional Programme team as a Systems Integration Manager WCPD.

 

The Systems Integration Manager will assist with the development and implementation of a systems strategy (operational and business systems) for the future operator of high-speed services focusing on the holistic system landscape and integration of data flows between those systems

Also the role will lead the strategic alignment of the Integrated Operator’s operational and business systems with business objectives, ensuring that the future operator can deliver a high-quality service, and day-to-day operations of IT infrastructure across the organization with a focus on the integration of systems in a complex environment.

Be the WCPD subject matter expert on Rail Business Systems and their Integration together with the application of the data strategy within the railway sector, including safety-critical systems and regulatory compliance.

 
 

The key responsibilities of the role include:

 

Strategy:

*       Complete and maintain the centralised mapping of the complete system landscape within WCPD including where there are interactions and data flows within WCPD, HS2, Network Rail and the wider Railway Industry systems

*       Ensure all data interfaces are documented and maintained. Create specifications for new or changed data interfaces and ensure they are maintained

*       supporting the integration and transition of existing systems or data interfaces to new systems where relevant, or changing and re-using existing systems, ensuring they meet the requirements of high-speed operations

*       support IT services procurement activity including the drafting of functional and non-functional requirements for those systems that need to be procured or amended

*       supporting the commissioning process and the assurance activities necessary for technical validation of new and existing systems

 

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

*       Collaborating with WCPD colleagues, Industry Partners (including Avanti West Coast, DfT, HS2 Ltd and Network Rail) and the supply chain to ensure that all systems and data interfaces are accurately recorded and to maximise efficiencies to be gained from a system architecture

*       To provide advice and guidance to all parties on systems that should remain, be changed or require new solutions to maximise opportunities afforded to the railway

 

Innovation and continuous improvement:

*       Identify and socialise improvements to functional and non-functional elements within the IT system architecture to improve the use and quality of data and information across the passenger proposition, rail operations, engineering and wider enterprise supporting functions

 

Cybersecurity & Data Protection:

*       Ensure the design of the future business and operational systems and data interfaces meets all data and cybersecurity protection regulations and standards and obtain approval of requirements above this.

*       Identify and develop solutions with the IT security team for those areas identified where cyber security standards are not being met

 

Compliance & Regulatory Management:

*       Ensure the design of the future business and operational systems is compliant with UK railway industry standards, safety regulations, and statutory requirements. Work with regulatory bodies to stay up-to-date with evolving technology standards.

 

Risk Management:

*       Identify, assess and effectively mitigate IT and systems risks.

 

Commercial management:

*       Manage future supplier relationships including any procurements with respect to systems and data interfaces

*       Contribute to procurement exercises by assisting with the technical specification required for any new IT services or systems (both functional and non-functional) and assist the procurement team in the selection of new services

 

Ensuring productive, effective and efficient relationships with key stakeholders including:

 

*       WCPD and Avanti colleagues and

*       Industry Partners (DfT, HS2 Ltd, Rail Delivery Group (RDG) and Network Rail.

 
 

The role is based in London and with the requirement for some travel on our network at times. The expectation will be a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.

West Coast Partnership Development

West Coast Partnership comprises two distinct parts – Avanti West Coast and West Coast Partnership Development. Avanti West Coast runs the InterCity West Coast train services from London to north England, north Wales and Scotland. 

Our work in WCPD is focused on developing plans for what the new high-speed services will look like (customer experience), how they will work (railway operations) and how we will start running new services and trains (mobilisation). Over the next 10 years we will develop and implement a programme (HS2 Ltd are building the new railway and associated infrastructure).
