Job description
Maximising Revenue, Optimising Service
The Revenue Management team ensures we understand the commercial trading performance of our business. They focus on providing customer and commercially oriented services, making them available for retail as early as possible, and offering the optimal mix of fares and allocations to drive revenue growth. This role is responsible for driving revenue across routes by managing a group of trains to maximise revenue and returns while managing overcrowding.
Key Accountabilities:
- Revenue Strategy: Manage and implement revenue strategies for a group of trains within a specific geographical region by understanding market dynamics, including competition, event traffic, and customer/product dynamics.
- Pricing Adjustments: Utilise decision support systems and tools, including the Revenue Management System, to make pricing adjustments.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with commercial functions such as Group Sales, Commercial Timetable, Strategic Analysis, Business Analysis teams, and Commercial Partnerships.
- Project Involvement: Support and lead commercial projects and initiatives as per the Annual Business Plan (ABP).
Who We're Looking For:
- Knowledge: General knowledge of UK Rail or Revenue Management is advantageous, with a working knowledge of yield management principles.
- Skills: Analytical and numerate with strong attention to detail, a self-starter who takes responsibility for making things happen, effective communicator both orally and in writing, able to proactively and constructively challenge assumptions and approaches at all levels, and adept at developing and maintaining relationships.
- Experience: Experience in rail and/or revenue management is welcome but not critical; applications from university students and graduates without professional experience are also encouraged.
