We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an inspiring communicator to lead our Internal Communications function.

As our Head of Internal Communications, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how we connect with our colleagues across the business. You will champion clear, authentic, and engaging communication that supports our mission and enhances the working lives of our people.

In this high-impact position, you will l be part of the Communications leadership team, guiding a vital function that ensures colleagues feel informed, heard, and empowered. With our unwavering commitment to customer excellence, your work will help colleagues understand what is happening across the organisation and how they can contribute to driving our purpose forward.

We expect our leaders to be visible, approachable, and to lead by example. While rail industry experience isn’t essential, you will bring a strong understanding of operational environments and the confidence to work within a unionised and regulated setting. It’s a dynamic role balancing real-time operational communication with longer-term strategic planning so resilience, agility, and strategic focus will be key.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide strategic leadership in shaping and delivering our internal communications strategy, translating business priorities into meaningful messages that resonate with colleagues and secure executive level support.
• Ensure innovative, engaging, and effective communication channels are in place to support genuine two-way dialogue across all areas of the business.
• Work closely with the external communications team to ensure alignment, preparedness, and consistency on key issues.
