Job description

We’re looking for a confident, organised, and people-focused Administrator / Receptionist to join our Academy team.

This role is much more than managing the front desk, it’s about being the first point of contact and the steady hand behind the scenes. You’ll play a key part in creating a welcoming, professional environment where every visitor, learner, and colleague feels supported and valued.

From coordinating bookings and managing training schedules to greeting guests and handling day-to-day admin tasks, you’ll help keep everything running smoothly. If you enjoy being at the heart of a busy environment, love working with people, and take pride in being the go-to person for getting things done, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Welcoming and assisting colleagues, learners, and visitors with professionalism and care.
  • Managing day-to-day operations of training sessions and meetings.
  • Handling room bookings, coordinating catering, and ensuring resources are stocked and ready.
  • Communicating across multiple channel, phone, email, and online platforms.
  • Keeping training records accurate and up to date on our HR systems.

What we’re looking for:

  • A natural communicator with a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using digital tools and systems.
  • Someone who thrives in a busy, people-first environment.
  • Previous experience in administration, reception, or customer service is a plus, but not essential.

As well as working with a fantastic team you will also receive:

  • Final salary pension
  • Free travel on Avanti West Coast for you/spouse/partner/dependents
  • Privilege Travel card (75% off other train operators fares for leisure travel)
  • 30 days holiday rising by 1 for every completed year of service to a maximum of 37 days (inclusive of bank holidays)
  • 10 free journeys on other First Group Train Operators

If this opportunity excites you then we want to hear from you!
