Job description
West Coast Partnership Development is the trusted partner of the Department for Transport (DfT) who are working towards creating and implementing the operations for High Speed 2 Ltd (HS2). We will design, develop and mobilise the high-speed service operations which will deliver benefits including more capacity, quicker journey times and a step-change in customer experience.
We are excited to present an opportunity to join the Customer Experience & Commercial department in WCPD as the **Station Specialist **on a fixed term contract (10 months)
The Stations Specialist will implement the agreed stations scope and work with HS2 Ltd on the development of plans for the HS2stations (Euston, Old Oak Common, Interchange and Birmingham Curzon Street). This will focus on design reviews of the stations, collaboration to develop station operational procedures, and ensuring alignment with the Passenger Proposition. Additionally, this role will be responsible for liaison with stakeholders connected to these stations. This role is responsible for ensuring all WCPD station requirements are captured as part of the strategy. The role supports the station benefits described within the HS2 Ltd business case
In this role, you will:
* Lead the technical review of HS station designs, reflecting agreed Station Scopes, programme of work and HS2 Ltd requests
* Support Head of Stations in keeping all relevant key stakeholders (including the DfT, Station Sponsors and In Life Team) fully appraised of the progress in relation to the development and design of the HS station designs ensuring they are aware of any issues in a timely manner.
* Deliver station experience and operations advice providing recommendations to the DfT.
* Ensure effective integration between the station development, train operations and passenger proposition workstreams for allocated stations
* Support development of HS2 Ltd station operational procedures in line with wider Target Operating Model
* Responsible for ensuring integrated WCPD station plans are in place with HS2 Ltd and Network Rail
* Gather and use customer and stakeholder structured insights to assess demand and develop evidenced based business cases.
* Collaborate with West Coast Partnerships stakeholder / communications teams on progress in delivery of stations to be served by HSS
* Develop strong collaborative relationships with the DfT, Avanti West Coast, HS2 Ltd and Network Rail.
* Produce technical product reports for the DfT that provide updates on progress against key milestones
We are looking for someone who has:
* A good knowledge of rail industry commercial processes and the contractual relationship between different elements
* Knowledge of railway operations at stations and GRIP/PACE/RIBA or equivalent processes
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
* Experience of developing commercial station strategy across a complex and varied portfolio in relation to both long-term planning horizons
* Experience of developing a portfolio wide long term station development strategy leading the process of gaining approval and sign off from external and internal stakeholders, reviewing and revising that strategy as appropriate to reflect changing contexts and requirements
* Project and risk management experience
* Able to demonstrate successful delivery of major station projects or strategies

The role is based in London. The expectation will be a minimum of 3 days per week in our office near Euston station and Warren Street Underground Station.

West Coast Partnership comprises two distinct parts – Avanti West Coast and West Coast Partnership Development. Avanti West Coast runs the InterCity West Coast train services from London to north England, north Wales and Scotland.
Our work in WCPD is focused on developing plans for what the new high-speed services will look like (customer experience), how they will work (railway operations) and how we will start running new services and trains (mobilisation). Over the next 10 years we will develop and implement a programme (HS2 Ltd are building the new railway and associated infrastructure).
